PCM Encoders
L-3 Communications Telemetry-West has been a leader in data
acquisition capabilities for over two decades. Others may
attempt to copy our products, but we
continue to be the pre-eminent supplier of PCM encoders in
the munitions and launch vehicle markets. Telemetry-West
offers two standard products to meet the needs of the
majority of programs requiring telemetry. The PCM600 was introduced in 1992, and
continues to be the PCM encoder of choice for most U.S.
weapons programs. The PCM600 is a miniaturized modular
encoder that can be
equipped with a large variety of data acquisition modules,
including interfaces to accelerometers, strain gauges,
vibration sensors, RTD's, thermocouples, flow meters,
pressure sensors, serial data busses, flight computers and
seekers. The PCM600 is fully programmable, thereby making is
easy for the user to modify his data
acquisition profile.
The PCM300 provides many of the same features as the PCM600,
but in a smaller footprint. In addition, the PCM300 can
operate to data rates in excess of 20 Mbps,
thereby making it ideally suited to smaller weapons that
have high speed computer or seeker interfaces.
Video Compression
Telemetry-West has produced video compression hardware over
the past 15 years, and has been an industry leader of
innovation in this field.
The VCS700 is our current product
in this field, utilizing a wavelet compression algorithm. In
most applications, wavelet can provide equivalent picture
quality to JPEG and MPEG at higher compression ratios. The
VCS700 provides superior image quality at high compression
ratios, and is a great solution for applications requiring
video transmission in a limited bandwidth.
Programmability
Many of Telemetry-West’s offerings have a high degree of
user programmability. Windows based software is provided
with the PCM600, VCS700 and ABS400 products, thereby
allowing the user to program key features and parameters for
their mission. The software for each product is easy to use,
and provides the user with unparalleled flexibility.
Transmitters
L-3 Communications Telemetry-West has produced high quality
transmitters for many
years. Our product offerings range from rugged S-Band
transmitters for telemetry in
weapons programs to a line of frequency agile multi-band
transmitters and power
amplifiers.
The CSS-905 and CTS-9xx series of telemetry transmitters have served the munitions market for several years and are ideally suited to weapons systems and launch vehicle applications.
The TTX and VTX series of transmitters provide solutions for telemetry and video over many RF bands and at a variety of output power levels. A series of power amplifiers is also available to provide output power to 250 watts.
Receivers
Telemetry-West offers a line of telemetry, video and command
receivers over a variety
of RF bands. We have been a leader
for many years in providing receivers in both the munitions
and unmanned vehicle markets.
The TRX and VRX series of compact receivers provide solutions for telemetry and video requirements over a wide range of applications. These receivers are available in many RF bands, from UHF to 18 GHz.
The CAR-915A is a popular command receiver, derived from the design of the highly successful FTR-915A.
Flight Termination
Telemetry-West's flight termination products have a flawless
history of performance on a wide variety of munitions,
launch
vehicle and target programs. Our family of flight
termination products has evolved over
the past 30 years, with increasing capabilities
and
corresponding size reduction.
Current offerings for flight termination receivers are the FTR-925 and FTR-915A1 for weapons, target programs, and for launch vehicle programs.
The FTC-100 is a flight termination controller, which is used to provide enhanced decoding and flight termination capabilities.
Data Links
L-3 Communications Telemetry-West provides individual
components for data links.
Typical data link
application is FM downlink telemetry and/or video data, and
low speed uplink command and control. Individual
components to support data link applications are those
listed in this brochure, transmitters and receivers,
encoders and
video compression products,, plus and ABS400 airborne bit
sync. The ABS400 is available with an integrated decom as
well
as output data modules.
Embedded Encryption
L-3 Communications Telemetry-West offers embedded encryption
capabilities within many of our
products. Embedded encryption is typically applicable only
on U.S. military programs, and is always
subject to approval for use by the National Security Agency.
Many of our airborne telemetry products have been equipped with embedded encryption for use on major munitions test programs.
Custom Designs
Telemetry-West provides custom design capabilities for all
of its products. Existing designs can be customized for
specific
applications, either by leveraging off existing products, or
providing custom enhancements to standard products.
Existing designs can be repackaged, where feasible, to fit
into tight locations.
Custom PCM encoders, transmitters, receivers and video compression designs have been provided to suit the requirements of a multitude of programs over the past 30 years.
Subsystem Designs
L-3 Communications Telemetry-West has routinely provided
integrated subsystem
designs on munitions programs. Subsystems may consist of a
couple of
components, such as an encoder and transmitter, mounted on a
plate for easy
installation into the weapon, or may consist of an entire
telemetry and flight
termination system, custom packaged or designed for that
program.
Our years of experience in this area makes Telemetry-West the supplier of choice for your telemetry subsystem requirements.
Product Support
Telemetry-West supports all of its products after sale to
provide the best and most comprehensive product support in
the
industry. Older products which are no longer offered for
sale, are supported to the best of our ability, taking into
account the availability of the older components in those
products.
We continue to sell older products to existing customers, based on their needs, subject to availability of the older components that go into those products.
